Pizza Pizza Pizza!

This month's food stamp allotment $210. About $18 of that is roll over from last month.

10/1/10 Trader Joe's total: $15.53

10/2/10 Trader Joe's total: $40.28

10/2/10 Ralphs total: $42.23

10/5/10 99¢ Store total: $22.40

10/5/10 Food 4 Less total: $14.50

10/8/10 Food 4 Less total: $7.98

I'm all about pizza this month.

I got a lot of veggies, and some apples. I plan on making some fried apples later this month. I whipped up some pizza dough based on a recipe I got from veggie web.

Easy, Yummy and Quick Pizza Crust *(my alterations)

*1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup + *2 tbls lukewarm water
1 tablespoon + *2 tsp yeast
*3/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

Preheat oven 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix the yeast with the lukewarm water until the yeast is dissolved. Let it stand for a couple minutes. Add the salt and vegetable oil/melted margarine. Mix. Add the flour, and mix. Roll out the dough. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes. Take it out and rub olive oil over it. Add toppings, and cook for 10-15 more minutes.

Makes: 1 serving, Preparation time: 10 minutes, Cooking time: 15-20 minutes

At first I made veggie pizza.

It was so lovely on the fresh dough. I coated the crust with fresh crushed garlic before I added the tomato sauce (tomato juice and tomato paste). Made a seasoned blend of veggies.

I polished off the pizza in one night.

The next pizza I just wanted spinach.

I LOVE the texture and taste of crisp spinach. Its so delightful. I did throw on some avocado and it was delish.

Then the next one was even more bland. Just sauce and garlic.

So more like garlic bread, really. Its good comfort food. Not as great as spaghetti and avocados, which I love, but good none the less.

I think later in the week I'm going to make some bread. I have some yeast on order.
Its a long story.

Last Food of the Month

It's been a while since I've updated. This past month has been total shit. From having my unemployment benefits nearly taken away, and being without them for 5 weeks, to my beloved dog dying in my hands, I have not been up to much.

But things are looking on the up and up. I might have some freelance work, I got my bennies back (although they will run out soon) and I passed my terrible in triplicate food stamp renewal application process. I was surprised, my awards letter said that I was going to get $60, but I got $200, which I was happy about.

9/17/10 Food 4 Less total: $20.44

9/23/10 Fresh & Easy total: $18.30

9/29/10 Ralph's total $18.50

10/1/10 Trader Joe's total: $15.53

My month without soy was kind of a bust. I thought I'd feel different, or my skin would clear or I'd have more energy. None of the above. I did however notice the taste change when I switched coffee because the almond milk didn't taste good with the Italian roast I love. But that was a small thing. This next month I think I'll live on pancakes and pizza.
